Comparative Study of the Personal Pronouns in Chinese and Yoruba Language

Abstract

This work however, is a comparative study of Asia’s Chinese Mandarin (L1) and West Africa’s Yoruba Language (L2). We take a look at the similarities and discrepancies present in both L1 and L2’s personal pronoun systems as well as the possible reason for the discrepancies. While this work is aimed at speaker of both languages, it also points at the issues of second Language acquisition. We are, therefore, of the opinion that commonly neglected details of two individual languages can help in the acquisition of the language and also the core comprehension of the language in question.
