Transforming Brain Drain to Brain Gain in Nigeria

Abstract

Brain drain is a slang term that indicates a substantial emigration or migration of individuals, Julie Young (2023). The term “brain drain” was first coined by the Royal Society in 1963 to describe the migration of scientists and technologists from less-developed countries to more developed ones, particularly from Commonwealth countries to the United Kingom, Bhagwati (1976). Since then, it has become widely used to denote the broader phenomenon of skilled migration and its implications for countries of origin.
